The beauty of succulents is they store water in their leaves-so they can have a drink whenever they want. That is why you don't need to water them that much. Depending on where you live, 1 to 2 times a week is plenty. Make sure to water less in winter, when the plants are actually dormant. Unlike their cousin the cactus, succulents like filtered light, they can burn if left exposed to Hawaii's strong, direct sunlight.

Tilandsia don't need soil to survive, all they need is filtered light and a heavy mist of water once or twice a week. They get all the nutrients they need from the mist.
